ePortfolio - revisiting Mahara

I am exciting when revisiting Mahara ePortfolio system and its new features:

1. Easy of use -- file repository management, ePorfolio builder, Resume & Profile wizard, web based publishing and sharing system, and the ability of integrating with external social media services, i.e. YouTube.

2. TEMPLATE is the most exciting feature that we have been wishing for Assessments purpose. Template allows implementation of assignment Matrix for collecting assignments and reflections.

3. SNAPSHOT is another most wanted feature. It will allow instructors to 'record' the ePortfolio submissions for progress evaluation or record keeping purpose.

4. FEEDBACK option is now available to allow ePortoflio owners gathering public or private feedbacks to the student (or faculty) ePortfolio publications. This is especially usefully for Peer Review purpose.

5. Watch List provides the instant notifications of any updates of the monitored ePortfolio publications. That is especially useful for team/group project.

6. Newly re-designed GROUPS goes beyond the Social Network Team/Project based collaborative ePortfolio building environment, it is fully integrable with Classroom Environment similar to Course Shells in the Learning Management Systems.

Hi Max

Its good to see you evaluating the Mahara eportfolio system. I am support person for a mahara site with around 150 schools using it.

One thing that may be of interest is the Mahara Moodle integration with single sign on (mahoodle)

The copying of views between individuals group and institute level is a good new feature.

If you need any info on Mahara or Moodle you can contact me at craig@flexible.co.nz (we are in same building as the developers of mahara)

regards
Craig

We also evaluated Moodle-Mahara earlier, but the campus has decided to go for Blackboard. The interesting integration for us would probably for Mahara and Blackboard, i.e. a building block.
